As you all know, I have a slight obsession with birds so I thought this would be a great time for you guys to get on my level! Check out the "Audubon" app. It is free and I use it all the time to ID birds. Play around with the app once you've downloaded it - there is an option to download the entire directory to your phone so that the app can be used without data, but I know that not everyone wants to use their phone space for that.
The app also has an option to help you identify a bird if you see one that you don't know. Just click on "Identify a Bird" and fill in all the categories until you find the bird you are looking for.
Some of the birds that are currently around Mackenzie include the following:
- Black Capped Chickadee
- Common Redpoll
- Steller's Jay
- House Sparrow
- American Crow
- Common Raven
- Evening Grosbeak
These are just some of the ones that I see around my house - there are lots more!
So here's what you can do for extra credit - download the app, go for a birding walk and try to ID some birds. Send me photo evidence with a small blurb on something you have learned about birds for an extra 5% on your mark.
Have fun!
